Mark Mingo founded Mingo & Yankala, S.C. to do one thing: represent people who have been seriously injured in accidents in Wisconsin. Every case his firm takes is on behalf of an injured person. The firm does not represent insurance companies. It does not represent corporations. That is a deliberate choice — and it was not always the case.

Earlier in his career, Mark Mingo represented the other side. He was defense counsel for major insurance companies doing business in Wisconsin, for Yamaha Motor Corporation, and for Bombardier Recreational Products. He was effective at it. But he found it unrewarding. Defending the entities that cause harm rather than helping the people who suffer it was not why he became a lawyer. He walked away from that work and has not looked back.

Today, that defense-side experience is one of the most valuable things he brings to every case. Mark Mingo knows how insurance companies evaluate claims, what their adjusters look for, how defense attorneys build their cases, and where they have weaknesses. He uses that knowledge entirely in service of his injured clients.

United States Supreme Court — DeShaney v. Winnebago County

Attorney Mark Mingo argued and won DeShaney v. Winnebago County, 489 U.S. 189 (1989) before the United States Supreme Court.

DeShaney is one of the most significant Fourteenth Amendment decisions in the history of American constitutional law. The case established foundational principles on the scope of the Due Process Clause and has been cited thousands of times by federal and state courts across the country. It is taught in virtually every law school in the United States and appears in constitutional law textbooks as essential reading. Legal scholars, courts, and law professors continue to analyze and cite DeShaney more than three decades after it was decided.

Fewer than one percent of licensed attorneys in the United States have ever argued before the Supreme Court. Mark Mingo not only argued there — he won one of its most consequential cases.

That experience — standing in the well of the highest court in the country and presenting arguments that became the law of the land — defines how Mark Mingo approaches every case he takes. No defendant is too large. No legal question is too difficult. No case is beyond the reach of thorough preparation and skilled advocacy.

Credentials

Wisconsin Super Lawyers — Selected 18 Consecutive Years

Super Lawyers identifies the top 5% of attorneys in Wisconsin through peer nomination and independent research — not payment. Mark Mingo has been selected every single year for 18 consecutive years. That sustained recognition reflects a consistency of excellence that one strong year cannot.

AV Preeminent Rated — Martindale-Hubbell

The AV Preeminent rating is the highest possible rating Martindale-Hubbell issues, earned through peer review by other attorneys and judges evaluating both legal ability and professional ethics. Mark Mingo has maintained this rating throughout his career.

Avvo Rating: 10/10 — Superb

Avvo’s highest rating, reflecting exceptional credentials, client satisfaction, years of experience, and professional conduct.

National Board Certified in Trial Practice — National Board of Trial Advocacy (NBTA)

NBTA board certification requires substantial trial experience, a rigorous written examination, peer evaluation, and ongoing continuing education. It is one of the most demanding certifications available to trial attorneys and independently verifies genuine courtroom competence.

More Than 100 Personal Injury Jury Trials

The overwhelming majority of personal injury attorneys in Wisconsin settle every case they take — not always because settlement is the right outcome, but because they lack courtroom confidence. Mark Mingo has tried more than 100 personal injury cases to jury verdict. That record changes how insurance companies calculate the risk of not settling with this firm.
